The decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade is a devastating attack on women’s rights that will force thousands and thousands of women to carry pregnancies they do not want.

This ruling marks a distressing turning point that will embolden anti-abortion groups across the world, including here in the UK, to push for restrictions to abortion access. Women’s rights are disappearing in front of our eyes - the time to act is now.

Dear Boris Johnson,
 
We are the pro-choice majority of the UK. We are deeply angered and concerned by the Supreme Court decision to overturn the Roe v. Wade ruling. It removes the right of a woman to make a choice about her own body and in many US states it will mean thousands of women forced to carry a pregnancy they do not want.
 
Women across the world will be looking at this news and feeling scared and angry about what it could mean for them. We need leadership from this government to show that, in a climate where women’s rights are being actively rolled back elsewhere, the UK is committed to protecting and furthering their reproductive rights.
 
We’re calling on you to:

<li>Decriminalise abortion in the UK</li>
<li>Introduce a nationwide policy of Buffer Zones around abortion clinics in the UK</li>
<li>Protect UK funding commitments to reproductive health and rights programmes globally.</li>
</ul>
 
1 in 3 women will get an abortion in her lifetime, it is a routine part of healthcare and it is an embarrassment that it still sits within criminal law in the UK. Women across the world must be able to access free, safe and accessible abortion care, free from any form of harassment.
